Discriminated Avoidance

What is Discriminated Avoidance in ABA?

Discriminated avoidance is a type of avoidance contingency in which a specific cue or discriminative stimulus signals the opportunity to engage in a behavior to avoid or escape from an aversive event. The presence of the cue signals that engaging in the behavior will prevent or stop the aversive event from occurring.
