Response-Deprivation Hypothesis

What is Response-Deprivation Hypothesis in ABA?

The response-deprivation hypothesis states that access to a behavior can serve as a reinforcer if it is restricted below the individual’s baseline level of engagement. If access to a behavior is limited, and it becomes deprived relative to the individual’s normal level of engagement, it can reinforce other behaviors.
